Spark plug:

Clean after 10000 KM the spark plugs thoroughly. Remove all of the carbon deposit between the porcelain insulation of the center electrode and the spark plug housing.

Check the electrode gap which has to be between 0.6 - 0.7 mm.

Be careful that you only mount new plugs which are the same type that FIAT dictates to avoid a malfunction of the engine due to another degree of heat of the spark plug.

This product fits the following models:

  • Fiat 126 BIS

The Robert BOSCH GmbH, established in 1886 with its main offices in Stuttgart and Gerlingen, is an internationally renowned automotive supplier. BOSCH also manufactures industrial technology, energy and building technology, as well as power tools and household appliances. However, the majority of the company's revenue comes from the automotive technology sector, making BOSCH GmbH one of the world's largest suppliers. With the introduction of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) in the 1990s, BOSCH demonstrated significant innovation.

The Spark Plug:

In gasoline engines, air is drawn into the combustion chambers of the cylinders. This air is supplied with finely atomized fuel, which has been cleaned by a fuel filter. This combustible mixture must be reliably and precisely ignited. This responsibility falls on the spark plugs - each cylinder has its own spark plug.

The optimal time for the spark is when the compression of the mixture in the combustion chamber is at its highest, just before the piston reaches its highest point. In the past, the ignition timing was mechanically controlled through a distributor; in modern engines, the calculation of the correct timing is done electronically.

An electrical voltage is transmitted to the spark plug via the ignition cables or (in more modern engines) generated directly at the spark plug in the spark plug connector. The spark plug has two electrodes between which there is a gap. If the voltage at the first electrode - the center electrode, surrounded by a ceramic insulator - becomes too high, a spark occurs to the second electrode - the ground electrode, connected to the thread of the spark plug.

A spark plug must withstand extreme stresses:

  • High temperatures - 2500 to 3000 degrees - are not uncommon in the combustion chamber of the cylinder
  • High pressure - 60 to 100 bar
  • High electrical voltage - several 10,000 volts make the sparks jump
  • High chemical stress from chemicals in the fuel and residues from the combustion process
