Axel Gerstl, owner of "Fiat 500 spare-parts express" offers a computer controlled catalytic converter for DM 1499. The catalytic-converter is not distributed to service-stations only, but also to private customers. " For it to be installed, the averagely skilled hobby-mechanic will need about three to five hours," says Gerstl. Afterwards, the correct installation needs to be confirmed by the TÜV, and an examination of exhaust fumes is necessary. Additionally, the installation of an electrical ingnition coil is advisable. Gerstl also has a 5 1/2 inch sport-wheel* with TÜV-seal of approval for the Fiat 500; these can be mounted with tires sized 145/70 12 without body modifications. A set of wheels costs DM 800,-. And for DM 550,- Gerstl offers a lowering kit featuring progressive springs, which enhance the driving comfort.

The Mr. Clean of Fiat 500 und 126
Drivers of small Fiats don't need to get upset about the new tax-regulations, but there is also such a thing as a driving-prohibition when ozone levels are high. No matter for which reason - Owners of certain models now have the possibility of equipping their little treasures with a computer-controlled catalytic-converter that fulfills the EURO-1-Norm, which results in DM 13,20 per 100 ccm. The catalytic-converter is developed as a sport-exhaust-pipe. The advantage: no power-loss in comparison to the original exhaust-pipe. The system was designed by "matrix engineering", the whole thing is available for DM 1399,-. The following engines are mentioned in the TÜV-certificate: 126A5.000 with 594 ccm, 126A.048 with 647 ccm. By now there should be a model available for the 110F.000 and 126A1.07678 type engines. Infos: Axel Gerstl - Fiat 500 spare parts express, Münchner St. 17, 82239 Biburg, Tel.: 08141-512030.
