Burkhard Hildebrandt on the traces of the Paris-Dakar Rally Actually Burkhard Hildebrandt had planned his tour from Cape Town to Hameln in 2015, but problems finding sponsors for customs deposit of EUR 10,000 , unfortunately, made him a spanner in the works. Because his thirst for adventure is still unbroken and his desire to help terminating discrimination against people living with HIV in Africa , Burkhard has made a virtue out of necessity and changed his plans ado. On February 20, 2015, he'll start. Not from Cape Town to Hameln, but in the footsteps of the Paris-Dakar Rally in Africa's North West. Accompanied by his son and " Bea ", his little yellow Fiat 500, Burkhard Hildebrandt want to seek the dialog with self-help groups, get in touch with SOS Children's Villages on site and mingle with the locals in order to overcome prejudices. The first steps of his tour , however, are still in Europe, because before reaching the African continent , they must first go though Germany , France and Spain. Then it goes on via Morocco and the Western Sahara to Mauritania . Whether Burkhard can visit Senegal as desired is currently unclear. Of course, "Bea" had to be made fit for the arduous journey. Burkhard installed an additional protection plate below the engine and transmission, a second fuel tank next to other, and a spare tire on the roof. To keep " Bea " from suffering on spare parts, he takes a wide variety of with him: fuel pump, ignition coil , spark plugs, axle boots , carburetor , air filters, belts, various cables , tires, tubes , gear oil, engine oil and other small parts like fuses and contacts and so on. The complete Axel Gerstl Team wishes Burkhard on his tour all the best and keeps the fingers crossed that he achieved all his goals ! P.S.: Dear newsletter readers! Burkhard is still looking for addresses and contacts in Morocco and Mauritania! If you happen to know people on site to which Burkhard can contact if necessary, or connection data of social institutions, hospitals and support groups for HIV patients, please notify us by e -mail! Thank you very much! |

> Fiat 500 designer would have been 110 years |
110 years Dante Giacosa Dante Giacosas great career began in 1926, when the mechanical engineer got a job at Fiat. At first he was mainly in charge of development of aircraft engines. Later he became part of Fiat's design department and developed the first Fiat 500, the Fiat Topolino in 1933. Its successor, the Nuova 500, introduced in 1957, is still regarded as a successful model. The first idea for the Cinquecento wasn't Dante Giacosa's, but was initiated by Hans Peter Bauhof, a young employee of the German Fiat Weinsberg department. In 1953 Bauhof started designs for a low-priced small car, inspired by the famous VW Beetle. Dante Giacosa examined the concept, did some changes in design and technology and thus created the Nuova Cinquecento, as we know and love him today. In 1959, Dante Giacosa won the Compasso d'oro, a renowned Italian design prize. In 1981, he received the honorary doctorate from the Art Center College of Design. But his greatest reward is certainly the unbroken passion for his work that so many Fiat 500 enthusiasts still have today. |
