The Big Axel Gerstl Quiz

On Easter Sunday, the period of attendance for the Big Axel Gerstl quiz 2012 ended.

We received numerous submissions from around the world: from Europe, USA, Scandinavia, South Africa, even from Japan and many other countries!

The fairies Toni Abbruzzese (known in the German and Italian Fiat 500 scene), Loretto Cinelli (Fiat 500 IG Munich) and Lothar 'Bruno' Wolf (Formula 3 champion ADMV 1971) took place on 10 April, to draw the winners of the grand prizes:

A voucher of 50 € goes to Josef Millen from Trier in Germany

A voucher of 100 € goes to Julius Viktor Tomczak from Herford in Germany

>The "journey of hope" continues

After his successful trip through the Sahara in 2010, our friend Burkhardt Hildebrandt again intends to go on a spectacular journey through the African continent with his Fiat 500. The Axel Gerstl Company is going to be by his side during this great adventure and report on his attempts to raise the hopes and dreams of the sick people he meets.

1994 was the year of destiny for Burkhardt Hildebrandt. During an accident at work while on a job-related stay in Namibia, he got infected with the HI-Virus. He fell in deep depression and was only able to gain his lust for life back after recognizing his new life-task: helping those who share his fate, mastering life with the illness, striking a new path and breaking free from the isolation.

To prove those wrong, especially his fellow sufferers, who think his HIV infection is a death in installments, he started with his little yellow Fiat 500 named Bea on a 13355 km long, sensational trip across the Sahara in 2010. On his way he met HIV patients, visited hospitals and contributed his personal share in awareness training and breaking social taboos about HIV.

Now, almost two years later Burkhardts journey is meant to continue. And this time he is up to something great. He is attempting to set a new record for the Guinness World Records by making his Bea the smallest car to have ever driven through Africa from south to north.

The trip is themed From Cape Town to Hamelin. The plan is to start the adventure in July 2012 in South Africa. Next, Burkhardt wants to cross Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Sudan and then leave Africa from the shores of Egypt to ferry across the Mediterranean Sea to Italy. Of course he is going to cover his journey on picture, video and weekly reports on his web page. Just like in 2010 the Axel Gerstl Company as Burkhardts personal spare-part sponsor will report on the trip in their newsletters.
