Burkhardt Hildebrandt: successful warm-up before the start!

Dear Customers, dear Fiat 500 friends, Fiat 126 friends and Fiat 600 friends,

As we told you in our last newsletter, our friend Burkhardt Hildebrandt is planning a trip through the african continent in his Fiat 500 just like his journey through the Sahara back in 2010. You can find all information about his warm-up in this newsletter.

The first successful warm-up for this project was completed in the middle of April when he and many of his friends and supporters were having a "Vivid show with the hits of Queen and the Pink Panther" as a local newspaper wrote.

This Event was already planned by Burkhardt Hildebrandt by the end of 2011. Detailed planning however couldn't start before the company Honig Baustoffe allowed him to use its showrooms for a benefit performance. Fortunately the musicians of the bands "Ralph Maten and Friends", "88 Miles" and Germany's well known Queen-Cover-Band "MerQury" were excited to hear about Burkhardt's request and didn't hesitate a moment to play at the show. And that's how on April 14th, 700 fans were partying in a sold out Honig-Baustoffe-Hall to the finest folk, blues, soul, disco and rock music for the benefit of the "Journey of hope association" (Reise der Hoffnung e.V.)

Burkhardt's journey of the year 2012, from Cape Town to Hamelin in his Fiat 500, was planned to start in July in South Africa and to take him through the whole african continent. But unfortunately, Burkhardt has to postpone the start of his adventure until 2013 for health reasons. On his way, he will then be supported by "Doctors Without Borders", "Flying Doctors", various development aid groups, Amnesty International and the Red Cross and is going to give lectures in many countrys. Burkhardt's goal will be to especially call the attention of teenagers to the dangers of the taboo issue AIDS and make an open-minded handling of the disease possible. This is, as Burkhardt knows from his very own experience, the best way to protect potentially endangered people preemptively.

If everything would have gone according to plan, he would have been back in Hamelin with his Bea - that's how his Fiat 500 is called - just in time for the World Aids Day. But maybe he would have been home a day early, just like Phileas Fogg in "Around the World in Eighty Days". When Burkhardt is going to continue the prepartions for his journey, on what date the adventure will start, what he is experiencing on the road and how his little Fiat 500 is surviving the exertions of this adventure, that is what you will read about in the upcoming newsletters of your Axel Gerstl Team, Burkhardt's own spare part sponsor.
