In the 1960s and 70s, owning a 500 Giannini was an an opportunity to stand out from the crows. Among the various variants, you could opt for a flashy, sporty version, be it a 590 GT model or the less pretentious 650 NP. Both models were equipped with two-cylinder engines whose performance gave even Carlo Abarth, Giannini’s toughest competitor on the racetrack and in sales figures, a headache.
However, there were also the ones whose lifestyle called for subtle elegance without emphasizing extreme sportiness. These customers favoured the 500 TV L for its discreet details that made a distinctive mark without appearing exaggerated.
The 500 TV L featured all enhancements of the Fiat 500 L series model. What made it unique were the numerous, but always unobtrusive accessories, including the chromed zamak “moustache” that adorned the radiator grille, the Fiat logo on the front bonnet, the odometer with Giannini lettering, the large wheel covers made of steel, the chromed lateral steel trims, the Giannini 500 TV L lettering and the Giannini cockade on the rear bonnet.

We had the pleasure of marvelling at a beautiful 500 Giannini TV L with the charming blue shade 456 paint at the 11th Etna meeting. This rare gem was awarded the title “Miss 500 Etna”. The fortunate owner of this award-winning gem is Francesco Di Mauro, an enthusiastic Giannini lover and collector. Besides this rare Giannini 500 TV L, he also owns a Giannini 350 EC, which is an even greater rarity. When Francesco, an accomplished mechanic specialising in the restoration of historic vehicles, had acquired his 500 TV L, he restored it to its original state with a dedication that earned him the coveted ASI Gold Plate.
